Show MAKES ASTOUNDING CHARGE Remarkable Statement Regarding Action of Jurors TRIBUNE SPECIAL Butte Mont July lThe jury which tried Harry W Peters for murder was discharged this afternoon after having been out three days and being unable to agree on t verdict The jury stood eight to four In favor of acquittal and some of the jurors make the remarkable remark-able charge that two of those who favored fa-vored cpnviutlon did so for no other reason than that Peters had worked I for the Ilennessy Mercantile company I after a strike of the clerics had been ordered and a boycott declared against the company because It had refused to grant the demand for a sixhour workday work-day These two Jurors they claim wanted to hang Peters for his violation of the union rules Peters belongs to a wellknown and aristocratic family ot Louisville Ky and many prominent public men of that State Interested themselves In his case Peters killed one E T Colby an advertising ad-vertising solicitor as the result of a quarrel growing out of tho fact that Colby had become engaged to a slster Inlaw of Peters although he had three other wives living from one of whom he had not been divorced |
