Show Ike feels closer to Rockefeller internationalist f oreign policy views, placing heavy stress on NATO,, etc., but fears that he is one of the fiscal irresponsibles he has been denouncing. Doubtless, Doubt-less, h ewould be a good soldier and back the party nominee. But his preference at this time, say intimates, is for neither. It is reliably reported to be a hope that Nixon or another New Face middle of the roader will again run as Eisenhower Middle of the Road Republican. No one would be surprised if he uses his considerable con-siderable influence to move the GOP in that direction now. in '62 and in '64. |
