Show Utah Citizens Will Discuss Problems Utah citizens, both as individuals indi-viduals and as members of several sev-eral local organizations and institutions in-stitutions will take part in the state-wide and nation-wide discussions dis-cussions of key issues in U. S. foreign policy, beginning Feb. 5, it was announced by Dr. Alton Hadlock, state director of adult education. Schools, newspapers, radio and TV stations and local organizations organiza-tions will participate in these "Great Decisions" programs. The Deseret News will run weekly articles on the editorial page with up-to-the-minute articles on American foreign policy for study discussion groups and interested in-terested individuals. The newly formed Adult Education Council Coun-cil of Greater Salt Lake will act as a co-sponsor by coordinating activities, establishing informal home discussion groups, and arranging ar-ranging special events during the "Great Decisions" program. "Great Decisions 1961," is a nationwide annual review by the public of urgent, headline issues of foreign . policy facing the American government and people. During eight weeks of community com-munity wide study and discussion, discus-sion, individual participants in the program will be able to express ex-press their opinions on each of the issues by use of an "opinion ballot." Tabulated results of the ballot, will be published locally. Ballot results, will be forwarded to Congress and to the State Department De-partment in Washington. Background readings and ballots bal-lots may be obtained at minimum mini-mum cost direct or by mail at either University of Utah Extension Exten-sion or BYU Adult Education Center. |
