Show Came Commission Releases Resolutions The Utah Fish and Game Commission Com-mission at its regular quarterly meeting in St. George last week set the general angling regula-. regula-. tions to be in effect during calendar cal-endar 1960. The regulations become effective effec-tive Jan. 1, 1960, on all waters open to year round fishing, on those waters where special white fish seasons will begin and during dur-ing the regular season for fishing fish-ing now set by the Commission to begin on June 4 and end Nov. 30, 1960. The new proclamation shows only minor changes from those that were in effect in 1959. Among these was the closure to whitefish in the Weber River in January and February. Reason Rea-son for the closure according to Harold S. Crane, is the lack of reproduction of the species made by depletion of suitable spawning spawn-ing habitat due to various water developments. In addition, the extremely low flows in streams makes the fish vulnerable to the angler. Portions of the Logan, Blacksmith Black-smith Fork and Duchesne Rivers Riv-ers will continue to be open to special whitefishing through Feb. 15. Other changes of a minor nature na-ture will become effective the first of the year include opening of several more waters to year round fishing and opening of more waters to fishing by boat or other floating devices. Commission action also separated sepa-rated the bag limit on grayling from trout and salmon. Bag limits lim-its on these high mountain fish will now be for 10 fish or 7 pounds and 1 fish, whichever is caught first. This change was adopted because of the over-mote over-mote waters, in an effort to alleviate crowding of the fish through increased fishing pressure pres-sure during the summer months. Commission spokesmen noted that these and other changes will be shown with all other rules and regulations in the 1960 proclamation as it is published. Watch the newspapers for the proclamation which will be published pub-lished soon. Proclomations will be available from license vendors and sporting goods stores the I early part of January. |
