Show Thiokol Will Move Headquarters to Utah Headquarters for the Thiokol Chemical Corporation's "entire rocket activity" will-soon be located lo-cated in the Utah area, it was announced by Dr. H. W. Ritchey, vice president in charge of the rocket operations. Several key personnel appointments were also announced. Dr. Ritchey was vice president and technical director until his appointment last week by J. W. Crosby, president, to head the corporation's rocket activities. Dr. Ritchey was also recently elected a member of the board of directors. Although the exact location of Dr. Ritchey's new Utah headquarters head-quarters has not been selected, it is contemplated that it will be in the Ogden or Salt Lake City vicinity. John Womble, director of the corporation's Technical Liaison Office at Huntsville, Ala., will also move his headquarters head-quarters with Dr. Ritchey to Utah. Edward F. Nauman, general manager of the corporation's Longhorn Division at Marshall, Texas, was appointed general manager of a newly created Utah Production Division. John Higginson will continue as general manager of the Utah Division, the research and development de-velopment facilities located 25 miles west of Brigham City. The new production division is to be located adjacent to the present facilities and according to a recent Air Force announcement announce-ment will be built primarily for the manufacture of first stage solid propellant rocket engines for Minuteman the nation's most advanced intercontinental ballistic bal-listic missile. Dr. Ritchey also announced the appointment to his staff or Bryce Wilhite, now assistant general manager and technical director of the Utah division. According to Dr. Ritchey, Mr. Wilhite will assume many of the duties that Dr. Ritchey has handled as the technical director of the corpo- technical director of the corporation. corpo-ration. Besides the Brigham City and Marshall, Texas, and Huntsville, Ala., establishments, Thiokol operates laboratries and solid and liquid engine facilities at Elkton, Md.; Redstone Arsenal at Huntsville; Denville, N. Thiokol builds rocket propulsion propul-sion systems for several "space age vehicles including LaCrosse, Little Joe, Sergeant, Corvus, Bullpup, Bomarc, Nike Hercules, Falcon, Minuteman and others in both the missile and research categories. |
