Show Type or Print Name On U. S. Tax Return You can prevent a lot of potential po-tential headaches by typing or printing your name and address as clearly as possible on your federal income tax return. The return must be signed by the taxpayer and by both spouses if a joint return is filed. This advice comes from Roland Ro-land C. Wise, District Director of Internal Revenue for the Utah District. "It is important to file a legible return and aspecially so if you have a refund coming. If we can't read your name and address ad-dress or if you have not signed the return your refund could be mis-directed or delayed." Mr. Wise also reminded taxpayers tax-payers to carefully list the names of children andor other relatives rela-tives claimed as dependents. "Far too many returns cannot be processed because the taxpayers' tax-payers' names are not legible, names of dependents and other necessary information are not included, or the signatures are lacking," Mr. Wise pointed out. |
