Show Armed Services Won't Listen to the People Despite all the publicity about President Dwight D. Eisenhower Eisen-hower and leaders of Congress being most unhappy about failure of the nation's armed services to unity, it appears that little would or could be done to bring the services into line. Defense Secretary Neil McElroy has called in the present and several former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to get their recommendations. This seems to be like calling in the culprit to get advice on how to catch him. Nothing is likely to be accomplished until the generals and admirals in the sprawling Pentagon are forced to heel to or step down. Those that are left can then carry out the unification program pro-gram as the Congress and the people desire. oOo |
