Show - - Kennecott Aids Dismissed Workers Steps have been taken by officials offi-cials of Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation to aid employees, soon to be released, re-leased, to obtain other employment employ-ment as soon as possible. L. F. Pett, general manager of Utah Copper, said the company made arrangements with the Utah State Employmen Service for service representatives to be anounced the lay off of 299 employees em-ployees starting Monday as part of a personnel re-organization program. The reorganization is part of a broad program to reduce re-duce high costs which has been underway for some time. It includes: in-cludes: More economical use of equipment, better cost control methods, supply control, improved im-proved purchasing methods, efficient effi-cient work methods, mainten-control, mainten-control, elimination of waste and increased participation in the employee suggestion system. on hand at convenient locations to interview laid off employees Tuesday, the day after lay-off notices took effect. Mr. Pett said employment service representatives were on hand at the West Jordan Elementary Ele-mentary School and at the Utah Copper Club at the Arthur Mill npflr Magna. Released employees residing in Salt Lake City and immediate vicinity can register for jobs at the Utah State Employment Srevice offices, 168 Social Hall Avenue. He said it is important that employees em-ployees register with the Employment Em-ployment Service as soon as possible as there are some current cur-rent openings for certain skills. Meanwhile, exit interviews are being held with all released employees em-ployees in which they are being advised of their recall rights and continued temporary coverage under the company's medical, hospital, life insurance and other benefit programs.
