Show Young Demo Delegates Boost Utah Projects Utah delegates to the Young Democratic convention last week in Reno played a very active part, and managed to secure the adoption of several resolutions that served to promote the best interests of Utah. One of these was a resolution urging continued federal financial finan-cial support of the Upper Colorado Colo-rado River Basin project. Another An-other called for federal aid in building access roads from Ka-nab Ka-nab to the new Glens Canyon damsite. Other resolutions called for a strong civil rights stand, de-! de-! nounced the so-called "right-to-work" laws but called for a revision re-vision of the Taft-Hartley law to prevent such labor organization fiascos as that of Dave Beck, a revision of foreign policy to regain re-gain a position of prestige for the United States abroad, and a demand for relief for the lead-zinc lead-zinc mining industry. Utahns formed the biggest delegation ever to attend such a national convention from this state, and its members held more committee positions than ever before. These included: Allan T. Howe, on credentials; Dean Mitchell Mit-chell on natural resources, La-Rene La-Rene Petersen of Wellington on college organizations; Rita Shu-man Shu-man of Tremonton on rules; Leon Ward of Salt Lake City on finance fi-nance and Daniel T. Dix of Salt Lake City on constitution and by-laws. |
