Show ii AMUSEMENTS- 'The Ensign," which will be given at the Salt Lake theater for three nights, commencing com-mencing tonight, has scored an unquestionable unquestion-able hit. It is an American naval play based upon oae of the most stirring events of the war. Around this historical incident is woven an Interesting story of love, valor and patriotism. It is described as a drama of power and positive force, and it has been given a splendid setting In the shape of several sev-eral wonderfully realistic man-of-war scenes, by its managers, which will doubtless be keenly appreciated by all who are interested in ship scenes and man-of-war life. The play is said to be splendidly mounted. S'aval critics in Washington, Brooklyn and other naval centers pronounced the man-of-war scenes as truthful a representation as it was possible to obtain upon the stage. The Choral society meet this evening at 7:30, in the old Odd Fellows' hall. Commencing Com-mencing this evening active rehearsals will be had of the music to be given at the Tabernacle Taber-nacle the 21st of this month in dedication of the World's fair. The music and general exercise will be similar to those held at Chicago on that date. e The Tabernacle choir meets tomorrow night to rehearse for its concert of the cUh instant. The Orphens' club meets as usual at Coal-ter-Snelgrove's tomorrow evening. John T. Kelly opens a three night's engagement en-gagement at theatre, commencing Thursday, Thurs-day, presenting "McFee of Dublin." Wednesday, October 12, a leap year ball will be given in Professor Younger's new hall on Market street. Olsen'B fuil quadrHe orchestra will furnish the music and a very good time is promised all who attend.
