Show .m . CONNORS' BAD BREAK. A New Baby in a Patriot's Household the Cause of a Ruction. William Connors, an employee of the water department, is a comical customer who should no longer hide his humor under a bushel. Yesterday mornlnir his wife, lov- ing and true, presented him with an heir, and in the exuberance of his great joy he proceeded to celebrate the event by worshipping worship-ping at the shrine of Bacchus. By eventide he was in a most pronounced state of inebriation, inebri-ation, and as a result wandered aimlessly about the city, finally bringing up before Nightwatehman Smith of the tithing yard. "Shay, Whiskers," he demanded in the regulation jag style, "old Brig is dead, ishn'the?" 'You must be crazy, my man," quietly responded the guardian. "Go about your business." "Wi-roop!" yelled Connors, "Crazy, am I," and without much-ado he hit the watchman watch-man a terrible blow in the face, almost flooring floor-ing him. The subsequent proceedings interested hicn not, and crazed with liquor and cursing and yelling vociferously, he was dragged to jail. Connors enjoys the reputation of being a quiet and orderly man, and his crazy actions of last evening can be directly attributed to the baby. |
