Show CAPTAIN WHITE IS DEAD. II la the Man AVho Last Year Refused to Surrender to San Salvador. Colorado Spuixgs, Oct. 29. Captain Frederick P. White of the Pacific Mail steamship Costa Rica, died here today, of pulmonary consumption, at the age of 51. His chief characteristic was to do his duty under all circumstances. This was never better shown than in his courageous devotion devo-tion to the interests of the Pacific Mail Steamship company, aud his unswerving duty to the welfare and safety of his passengers when, a year ago last August, in command of the City of Panama, he earned a national reputation by his refusal to surrender to the republic of San Salvador five political refugees who were on his ship. Captain White arrived here last May in search of health. |
