In America aud most Kuropean couutiies the day begins at midnight. The Jews and Italians, h iwever, begin their day at sunset. The Turks begin their day at a quarter of an hour after sunset. Most of the Italian clocjta strike the twenty-four hours; for instance, nn hour past twelve, in-etead in-etead of striking I o'clock, as our clocks do, they strike Ei o'clock, and so ou to the end of the twenty-four hours. |
