Mining has been sue. cessfully carried on from Idaho Falls down to a few miles below the high bridge of the Oregon Short Line, distance by the stream of nearly 4(10 miles. Qlann's ferry is at the upper end of the sluggish portion of the river about 100 miles above the Oregon Short Line bridge. With all the canals that w ill soon be taken out of Snake river the water will be lowered so that miners can work the center bars at great profit It is not unreasonable to expect a return of the California days of '411. The bed of Snake river is lined with gold, and all that ll needed to successfully operate it is to reduce the How of water from the stream by means of canals. Idaho will yet take the lead as the gold producing state of the union. |
