Show AN EXPLOSION OF DYNAMITE. Two Miner Killed ami Many Others Seriously Se-riously if Mot Fatally Injured. WttTlWumi, Pa., Jan. &. A terrific explosion ex-plosion of dynamite occurred at Honeybrook yesterday. Twenty Hungarian miners, em- . ployed in coal shipping, were sittiug around f a stove in a workmen's shanty eating their i luiu heou, when several sticks of dynamite near the stove exploded, blowing the shanty to pieces and scattering the inmates in all directions. Two of the men, Adam Homey and John Slavitzkl. were instantly killed, their bodies being shockingly mutilated. Of the others, not oue escaped injury. The men were lying ly-ing around in every direction, some with their arms and legs broken, and blol i flowing flow-ing from gaping wounds. It is now licved that a number of those that are w ounded will die. The explosive was not ordinary dynamite but daulm, one of the highest explosives made. Tho explosion was caused by the men thoroughly beating it and then exposing expos-ing it to cold, causing it to contract. Dr. Keller telegraphs that, besides the fractures of the skull ami bones "f the face, tho body of each patient contained scores of wounds, made as though by bullets, bul-lets, their legs arms and chests especially being pierced with dunlin from two to four inches deep. The probing of the wounds did not reveal in a single instance any foreign body at the bottom of the wound. Must of the unfortunates unfor-tunates are married men aud have, more or less large families. |
