Jwanson acknowledged that he was using as a shoe maker, shop a frame structure built m wheels; that it was within the tire limits; that he had been notifled by Chief Stanton to remove it, etc. His attorney Mr. H. C. G!en: explained that his client was a hard working, honest man but a poor one, and that he would remove the bnilding at once. His honor taking these facts iu considera-tion yave hiia the lowest tine possible which was 110. When the case of J. S. Billings was called his attorney asked to have the case continued till Wednesday. lie said: "We. acknowl-edged the fact that this is a frame building, and the chief has notified Mr. Billings, and that it is within the lire limit, hut we con-tend as this building is on wheels it docs not come within the city ordinance aud I would like to argue the lav,-- on the subject." The case was then set sor Monday at I p. m. This building is on State street and is al-most directly opposite to Grant Ilro.'., livery stable. Greenwood will form the board of directors. lie Stopped His Paper. About a month since a Tim. reporter 6aw a peculiar performance in the rear of one of the city livery stables. A d individual and a horse, the latter with his head tied to his tail occupied the lot. The man had a wthip in baud aud was making the horse dance all around the lot, until the anim;:l became so dizzy that it fell. This performance was repeated several times aud struck the reporter as being more than usually idiotic aud an explanatiou was called for. Nothing was, however, heard the matter until this morning when the proprietor of the stable called attd-sei- ! hat-h-e was onlyjjcorrecting a balky horse aud that .lie reporter who was so eager for in-formation was a bigger idiot than he was. And then he stopped his paper. Doctor 1 1 0 in i it 011 Dead. Dr. John F. Hamilton, an old timer and one of the prominent physicians of the city, died this morning at 10 o'clock at his resi-dence 4;V,5 East First South street. The doctor was a man of Co years of age and has been afflicted for some time with atheroma, a calcareous deposit about the blood vesse s of the heart, and which Dually caused his death. The doctor has for many years been a hard worker among the hospitals of the city, aud it was through him and Rev. R. M. Kirby that St. Mark's hospital was iirst started and is on the lirm foundation that it U. today. The Health of March. The report of the health department for the month of March shows ."! deaths, 2S of w hich were under 10 years of age and 11 over 7. There were 10 deaths from pneu-monia and !j from diphtheria and one uicide. Ninety-nin-e births are reported; 56 males & females. There were 54 marriage licenses issued. Off for Deep Creek. Messrs. The First Congregational church, on the corner of First South and Third Fast, is fast Bearing completion. The carpenters and painters who are hard at work expect to be through in about two weeks, and the congre-gation hope to be able to hold their first ser-vice iu their new church on the first Sunday in May.
