New York, Dec. 2. Dr. Fuller, Cyrus "V. Field's attending physician, issued a bulletin bulle-tin this morning saying that his patient's condition was somewhat better than it was yesterday morning. The condition of Mrs. ) Lindley, Field's daughter, remains about the same. After having tried to commit suicide Edward M. Field has been declared insane and was yesterday placed in a private asylum near Mt. Vernon. It is now known that Edward Field not only robbed and deceived his partners, but stole every cent his trusting father had. Field realizes the fact that he is penniless in his old age, for as he lay on his death bed yesterday he said to an old friend: '"I am as poor as the day I came into the world." At noon Dr. Fuller said there was a favorable favor-able outlook for Field living a considerable time, with even a slight hope of his ultimate recover-, ''Field," the doctor said, "is in no immediate danger of death." A friend of the Field family this afternoon said: '"The family has decided to take Edward Ed-ward M. Field's case before a judge and jury at once. They want to have Field's sanity passed on publicly, so that it cannot be said that his insanity is being used as a pretence for saving him from the results of his financial finan-cial wrong doings." |
