This city was thrown into the wildest excitement by the kidnaping of William E. Hailey, a young millionaire, aud It. H. Albert-son, Albert-son, his attorney, yesterday afternoon by a dettcrlive. No facts are obtainable, obtaina-ble, and the whereabouts of the men is unknown. It is supposed that the party is heading for Tscoma. Lailey is a young man whose father is a millionaire of Ilarrisburg, Pa. Young liailey is the owner of the Ilarrisburg Ilar-risburg block here president and director di-rector of several banks and a large real estato owner. He is also nronrietor of a newspaper. Albertson, is a second cousin of Albertson, the absconding cashier of the Fidelity Trust company of Tacouia, and it is supposed detectives abducted him in order to get somo information in-formation about the absconder. When the cab was two miles out of town Bailey and Albertson were calling call-ing for help and the detectives threatened threat-ened to shoot several men who attempted at-tempted to rescue them. Detective Suilivan and his two deputies, depu-ties, who kidnaped William E. Hailey and H. I. Albertson, drove to Black River junction with the intention of taking a train for Tacoma, but were captured there on the arrival of tne train at 11 o'clock. Ihe capture was made by the chief of Seattle and posse, and the whole party returned here shortly after midnight. Sullivan had a warrant for the arrest of Albertson, charging him with having hav-ing some knowledge of the whereabouts of his cousin, the absconding bank cashier. The warrant, however, was not signed by the officials of King county. Bailey was not wanted, but taken along because he was with Albertson. Al-bertson. Tacoma. Wash., Sept. 11. The kidnaping kid-naping of Bailey and Albertson at Seattle Seat-tle yesteday was the outgrowth of the disappearance from this city of Cashier Albertson of the Fidelity Trust company, com-pany, about two weeks ago. Albertson lijlt a shortage in his accounts, amounting amount-ing to about $10.(100. Sjveral thousand dollars in securities also disappeared about the same time and it is supposed Albertson took them. Last week J. II. Cohoon, Cashier Albertson's brother in law, was kidnaped kid-naped by Sullivan's detectives and kept confined in a hotel for several days in the hope that he would disclose something regarding his brother-in-law's whereabouts. |
