The corner stone of tho new church which the First Congregational society of this city is constructing at First .South and Fourth Fast was laid last evening. A hymn was sung, and llev. J. H. Thrall, the pastor, made the opening open-ing remarks, Lev. S. G. Dodd read the Scriptures, and Lev. F. G. Webster offered of-fered prayer. (). J. Kollister read a number of historical notes which were interesting. The hymn, '.), Where are Kintrs and Kmpires Now," was sung. Dr. T. C. ll-il ma le an address on t'lie growth of the Congregational, Protestant, Kpiscopal, First l'rtsbyte-rian, l'rtsbyte-rian, Swedish Lutheran. ISaptist. Christian Chris-tian ITnitanan, African M. E. churches in Salt Lake City and Utah. Lev. W. S. Ilawkes offered the praver of conse-crtion. conse-crtion. Kev. J. It. Thrall' laid the the tin box in the corner stone and offered prayer. The benediction was pronounced pro-nounced by Kev. 11, H. Stollman. The new church building is TOxl'0 feet. When complete and ready for occupancy it will have cost about $10,-000. $10,-000. The building, it is expected, will ready for use about the lirst of next year. ( |
