A preliminary meeting of tho Utah delegates to the irrigation convention was hold in tbe chamber of commerce com-merce last night. Colonel Dennel-ian Dennel-ian was made chairman and P. K. Gillespie, secretary. The meolinc decided that it was in favor of having' a committee of five appointed of which the chairman and the secretary would be ex-ollicio members who should take ehar?e of railroad rates and advertising. Hit suggestion was acted upon aud the names of the members of the commi'tee will be announced later. From auswers to communications received it is believed iherotviii be fully one thousand delegates dele-gates to tho convention. A general committee of uiue on arrangements ar-rangements should bo appointed, four of whom should be from Salt Lake anil five from tho outside, and that they be empowered to appoint a committee of three from evh county to collect statistics sta-tistics of tho irrigable lands of the territory, aad the methods of irrigation usi'd.
