St. Mary's Temperance society has effected its organization and is now engaged en-gaged in the prosecution of its noble work. The membership numbers about forty enthusiastic devotees of cold water and promises to incroase rapidly. Reuben, the sou of Mr. and Mrs. Allien Al-lien Dalton was thrown from a wagon while crossing the car tracks at Second West and 1'ourth South yesterday afternoon after-noon and sustained a fracture upon the leg. Since selling his printing business Mr. Pembroke has been met on every hand with, "Well, what are you going to do now?" and his reply has generally gen-erally been that he has been hard and constantly at work since he was IU years of age, and now he is willing to take a rest for thirty or sixty days, if his restless or energetic, nature will permit him to do so. lie is somewhat ambitious to devote more time to the consideration of public mitt tern also, as long as he may rciuaiu in a public position, and this resting spell may give him opportunities for doing so.
