Chicago, April 9, Both republicans ami democrats are claiming to be victors vic-tors in tho exciting election for the mayoralty. Each side, however, had practically uiinimied its claims to a plurality of 200 or iitjll. Tho official count began today and is awaited with impatience. The democrats pit forward for-ward the assertion that many votes for Elmer Washburn, the citizens' candidate, candi-date, were counted for Heinstead Washburn. Wash-burn. On the other hand the republicans republi-cans protest that in one precinct alone at the stock yards over hundred votes were deposited for names that were refused re-fused registration, and that some of the names are those of persons who have been dead for weks or months. The board of election commissions commenced the canvass of the vote taken at the municipal election Tuesday Tues-day last, and nothing definite will, be know n as to the result for several lErys. It is asserted by republicans today tliiit an en or w.is discovered in the returns from one precinct, giving Hemstead Wasliburne an additional fifty voles.
