The first of the surveying parties for the inter-national railway between Ni rth and South America will sail from this city for Equador tomorrow. The party-will party-will be under the direction and supervision super-vision of Lieutenant Shunk, of the engineer en-gineer corps of tho army. There are iiiirteeu others in the party, eleven of them civil engineers and the other two jiasseii assistant surgeons. Upon reaching reach-ing Equador the party will divide, one-half one-half going south aud the other north. The detail is simply a surveying party which will cxamiue and report to the government upon the proposed line of railway. |
