Show A Bold lint. The salesmen of Weber's clothing store own two white English ferrets, and they have great sport chasing and killing rat with them. Very often several rodents are caught in a trap and let loose in a large dry goods box. One of tho ferrets is then placed in the box, and in less j j time than it can be told the rats are laid out colli. Monday a monstrous rat was snared in tlie trap, and, as usual, placed in tho j box to be slaughtered by the ferret. Id ' was a savage looking secimen of tho i vermin and exhibited no fear, but backed into ono corner and looked sullenly about. The young ferret was dropa?d in first, tlie boys supposing, of course, tho rat would bo dispatched without ceremony. But in this they were badly fooled, as the ferret, on catching sight of the rat, sneaked into the farthest corner and huddled down shivering with fear. The rat, after taking a brief survey, glided swiftly over to tho ferret's corner, cor-ner, and, snapping savagely at tho ferret, fer-ret, retired to its corner. Tho ferret squealed in terror and mado repeated efforts to jump out of the box. The rat grew bolder and continued its attacks, which resulted in utterly routing the ferret and starting on a lively chase wound the box. Realizing that the young terret was ,-noi in n, mo Doys dropped the old fellow in, aud imagine their amazement when he, too, sneaked off in a corner, scared of his life. The rat, on sizing up the re-enforcement, bustled up and went for both animals, tooth and nail, and there is no telling what the result would have been if tho boys had not taken the reputed rat killers out and placed a rat and tan ter-rier ter-rier in the box, which soon did the work.
