Show I THE SALT LAKK TIMES. WEDNESDAY. AVUlh 29, 1891 3 BACK LOT STUDIES SOCIETY. The Nov! Kiliimtlonul Systmn llrgun at I Kviiuatoii, I1U. Mr. Volney W. Foster, of Evanston, Ills., assisted by Professor Henry L. fcultwood, principal of the high school, a if - pi I FKOtTSSOK HOI.TVOil V. V. F'lSTKR. I has Buccessfully undiTtakcii a novel 1 scheme for educating young men and I women along the lineof practical all'airs. I Jlr. Foster lias ,i beautiful homo on I Greenwood boulevard, and in the fpa-- I ciotts grounds to tho rear stands a large, one Btory structure, called "The Shelter." Up to last January The Shelter had lx-e-utilized liyfMr. Foster's gup.sts simply as place of refuge, in case a snddcui shower interfered with a tennis game, or as a cool retreat whenever tho sun beat too hotly upon the outdoor merrymakers, but at the beginning of the year Mr. Foster originated an idea which has made Tho Shelter a center of literary activity. In conjunction with Professor Holt-woo- d he organized the Back Lot Studios society, and invited the bright boys and girls of the village to become members. Since tho opening night those privileged to lie present at tho weekly meetings have been entertained with talks by prominent in ev.-r- piimo of business mid professional life, and the? programme for tho summer includes addresses by (i'-'- r.il Nelson A. Miles, D. M. Saliin, l'residi'tit Rogers, of the Northwestern university, and a number of gentlemen distinguished in science, invention, banking, navigation, com--, titeiiv and the law. Mr. Fotor boars all tiie expenses of the undertaking, and the fame of the Hack Lot St ud-ie- s society has already spread toother points, where similar organizations aro contemplated. Indeed, it looks as though the Evanston idea might b-a- r asalmndant fruit as the one evolved at Ciiatitauipia. Consolidated Implement Company. Dr. McLennan is conceded to be the eroateiit living healer. Taeoma World. Kr d. of Ilia Burrr. Years of unvarying success in the treatment of nil diseases and deform-ities that inflict humanity have won for l'r. McLennan a reputation.
