Tlio state labor convention was called to order at noon iu Liedcrkranz hall, by Robert Schilling. The chairman chair-man delivered a long address in which he suggested that the convention should tirst consider the advisability of nominating nomi-nating candidates. The preliminary business was conducted with considerable consider-able noise, as many delegates had speeches to deliver and could not restrain re-strain themselves until 'the opportune time for discharging them arrived. Tho convention is iu a quandary aud just now it cannot bo positively stated whether or not it will nominate a ticket. The delegatus are entirely pleased with tho nominations made by the democrats, but aro not favorably impressed with their platform. On the other hand they arprove of the reimb-lican reimb-lican platform but they have not a high opinion of the republican candidates. Tho result will not be affected whether or not this convention nominates a state ticket. |
