Last night, in the social world, was Iowa night. The 200 pioneer residents of the old Hawkeye state, now living in Salt Lake, met in social reunion at the governor's handsome quarters on West Temple street. ' That spacious building so well adapted for such gatherings was crowded with the members of the "Iowa association in Utah," and their invited guests.. The affair was informal and only for the purpose of renewing old friendships, and despite the storm (what care those sturdy Iowa people for storms) everybody that hailed from the corn state was on hand. The. evening passed merrily in social conversation aud - pleasant jpkes. During the evening the roll was called and it was found that nearly every county was represented. As they used to say in Iowa conventions delegates were on hand. , . . - ' 'From Lyon to Le , From Fremont 3 Allamakee." , ; Senator Saunders of the Utah Cora mission, reported from Mt. Pleasant; Colonel Godfrey, chairman of the commission, com-mission, hailed from Des Moines, Secretary Sec-retary Sells claimed Muscatine, Marshal Mar-shal Parsons registered from Davenport, and so on down through the list. Another An-other count showed over fifty native-born native-born Iowans on hand. The officers of the association are: President, C. F., Loofbourow; vice-president, vice-president, J. C. Conklin; treasurer, I Hoyt Sherman, jr., and secretary, C. H. Parsons. 'The affair last night was managed by the following committees: Invitation Charles B. Jack, Hiram E. Booth and Charles W. It is reported that on December 28th, the forty-fourth anniversary of the admission ad-mission of Iowa to the union, a much more elaborate affair, will be given by this association. Hints are heard of an elegant banquet at one of the leading hotels. Full dress, speeches, responses, etc. Those having the matter in charge say it will be the swell affair of the season. sea-son.
