Show Utah Minerals. Ogden Commercial. There is probably no spot on earth where the mineral deposits are so rich and varied as in Utah. Gold, silver, lead, iron, platinum, quicksilver, and a score of other minerals are found and promise to ' yield ' in great abundance when once the mines are developed. From all the camps throughout the territory the information comes that mining is receiving more attention now than it ever received before. Gold, silver and lead are receiving the hulk of attention while before long the other mineral deposits de-posits will be developed. There is no lack of minerals, and in heavy veins. All that is lacking is tho development. In the early days of Utah, and until the Gentile influence began to be felt, all efforts to devclope the mineral resources re-sources of tho territory were discouraged. discour-aged. Hence it has only been within the past few years that any attention has been given to mining. "But within these few years enough has been done to show in some degree the vast extent of the mineral wealth of Utah.' From Bingham, Park City, Stockton, Eureka, Ophir, Frisco, ana all the camps of the territory it is learned that new mines are being opened op-ened up and that the old ones are being worked w'th a largely ' increased force. Montana and Colorado have heretofore held the lead in ore production, but the palm is soon to pass westward aud come to Utah's hands. Within a year if' the same amount of work is done, it can reason' ably be expected that Utah will take the lead not only in, the production of lead, but in the output of silver. The mining industry of Utah is yet in its infancy, but tho results so far are flattering flat-tering enough. |
