Thore has been a small sized cyclone In the ownership of property in the southeast part of the city ever since G. L. Chamberlain bought out Perkins' ad-- ' dition aud revealed their plans to ex-pend a million ef dollars in building bouses. Several large sales, involving large Minis of money, have been the direct result of the Chamberlain move. A transaction of great importance occurred yesterday which insures that this section of the city has a lead on 11 the rest. The Midland Investment company, the oldest, strongest and most extensive dealers in real estate in this city, yesterday secured eighty of the choice lots In Perkins' Grand View addition. This addition is located ( on the high ground south of Lincoln park, one block east of the Chamber-lain property, and is the linest epot of ground on the east bench. The fact that it has fallen into the hauds of Harvey Hardy & Co. insures that it will at once be extensively improved or told out to a class of people who will make a very desirable neighborhood.- The location in this part of the city of three such powerful syndicates as the Midland Investment Co., Chamber- - . lain & Co., and the Lincoln Park- - com-pany insures that it will receive heroic treatment and becomo the best itn- - . proved portion of the city. KELLEY OF THK ELKS' SAMPLE' Never does anything by halves or enters into a project with-out successfully carrying it out to the point, and a peep into then ew Gymnasium, re-cently added to his popular resort, will quickly convince one of the truthfulness of this remark. To the already well ar-ranged institution has lately been added a newly improved Peck & Snyder Pulling and Lifting Machine, which is claimed to be the very first one of its kind ever brought to this country, and which adds materially to the amusement obtained in this establishment. The gymnasium is now com-plete and equipped ' with the finest of everything that money can buy. The location is one of the most convenient and easily accessible in this city, and being only a short distance from the business centre and in close proximity to the Theatre, it can be said to be a very desirable place to visit after the performance or between the acts, as one's con-science may dictate. Mr. Kelley is in receipt of a letter from the celebrated man-ager of pugilists, Parson Da-vie- s, of Chicago, in which this distinguished veteran and shining light of the pugilistic arena expressed his intention of visiting Salt Lake some time in February, and the exclusive use of the Elk Gymnasium has been tendered the genial "Parson" by the gentlemanly "Ed." for the purpose of giv-ing a genuine exhibition of the manly art of self defense, the exact date of which has not a3 yet been decided upon. Jimmie Williams, champion of Utah, is in constant attend-ance for the purpose of in-structing those who desire to beeome proficient in this the manly art. Mr. Kelley caters only to the first-clas- s element of trade and his friends and patrons are assured of courteous treat-ment at the hands of the em-ployees of this establishment. Mr. Kelley will always be found upon the premises to welcome his friends and pa-trons, and desires to extend a hearty invitation to the gen-eral public. CALL AND SEE HIM Opposite Theater.
