As will be seen, Wyoming and Montana Mon-tana are represented," and several Colorado Colo-rado horses will appear. As there is about $7000 in purses a good representation represen-tation may he anticipated. Saturday's Races. Nearly $7000 was represented in the pool box ou Saturday last when several races occurred at tho driving park. The first event was Tom Linderman, Riley K and Lydia Allen, iu a throe cornered race, $100 a corner with aside bet on Linderman of $101). Tho race was mile heats best three in live, with Liuderman to wagon. The other two to harness. Riley K won, but if Linderman Lin-derman had not been handicapped he would have carried off the honors easily. In the second heat he done his mile' in 2:20 with 400 pounds behind him. Busbv defeated Hottest John in 2:334, 2:i!4 and 2:35. Doc Kllerbeck, Lady B mul Kent tried conclusions in tho roadster's race owners' driving. Doo won in 2:34, 2:59 and 2:57. ' Roanoke defeated Grey Dick in a quarter of a mile dash in :20. Snorting Notes. Jack Fogarty of Philadelphia is in the city looking for a go with some one. Jack is a good man and any ono meeting meet-ing him is likely to discover that fact. E.l. Wilson of Wyoming is looking for a mill with some one. Wilson is a good man in his class so 'tis said. Perhaps Per-haps Jim Lindsay of Omaha might be induced to go up against him. Jack Ashton the pugilist is billed for Salt Lake ono week from tonight and will spar a local unknown ten rounds. Ashton is a very clever man and if his antagonist is any good a lively little set-to may be expectod. Strader, the man who was defeated at the Golden Gate club on Friilsw night, is very sore over his defeat. Not only in body but in mind. He says ho wants another go at Williams. The sporting editor of The Times volunteers this advice ad-vice to Strader: Don't. You can't fight, aro utterly unscientific, don't, know how to put up your hands, eveu. Get a good job somewhere, Mr, Strader, and let lighting alone or sometime some-time you will strike a snag and get killed. Any man of your class who knows anything about lighting at all could beat your head off. |
