Specials From All Over I ' the World. 1 i i ! Li.mm.n. May Special. Lord Clielinsfoid today iiresenlcd his motion falling attei.tion to the report of Lord Hartington's coinmission on naval and military administration. The government govern-ment will ma consent to the publication publica-tion of the report and they wi 1 be supported sup-ported in their resolution by several of the liberal leaders. When the commission com-mission sununiiued witnesses it was understood un-derstood that their lestim-my was wanted merely tor the private information informa-tion of the government and hence they gave their opinions more fully and less guardedly than they would liavo done had tliey an intimation that their views would I e published to the world. If the demand of Lord ('In I'nsford is complied with several public men w ill think they have been led into a trap for the purpose of intlur cueing the army irid navy to antagonize them. The reply of the p eminent leader to the iUestioii of L nil Chelmsford, Chelms-ford, as to what measures the government govern-ment proposed taking to carry out the recommendation of the commission was rather meagre and iiuletinale. It pleased neither Lord Chelmsford imr the statesmen who had testitied before the eonmiiss'o i. f the report should be of benelit to the army and navy, it will probably be suppressed, but if it should benelit the ministry it will probably prob-ably Hud its way in some mysterious manner into the columns of the Times. |
