Show sacramento ORE BODIES I 1 in speaking g of the sacramento in mine ine at Aler mercur cur the miner of that place says we made a visit through the mine this week and were surprised at the amount of development work that has been done during the past few months and the great body of ore that has been opened up superintendent benner has gone ahead with the work without making any noise over it last summer a tunnel was run into the hill consider considerably abl y above and west of the rail mill tunnel af after ter going a short distance a good body of ore was discovered since ethen then thisdore this ore body has been developed with the result that a bigger 11 body of ore has been bloed blocked out than can be found elsewhere ele fiher e in uie district the hanI hanging ging r walldon wall conforms forms somewhat to the shape of the hill and at the highest point is only a few feet from the surface it is a body of ore that lies over and is entirely distinct from the upper mercur vein jt it seems seem sto to be a sort of deposit and is a decomposed quartz z looking almost like wash there is no tale talc in it and it is of fine leaching quality while the body of ore is unbroken there are two waves or rolls to it so that it is found dipping both to the west and east theore the ore is sufficiently decomposed to be brought down with a pick in most places and three meri men in this part of the mine could break down clown enough ore to keep the mill running no timbering is required and large rooms are cleared out without danger of caving but it is the immense extent of off the ore that strikes the visitor from the hanging wall which is eitler either lime or wash this body extends to a depth of 1 feet six different levels are run into the ore body in addition to the mill level and the ore is dropped down through chutes chute s into the lowest level where it goes into the cars very little ore has been taken out of this great deposit but enough levels and have been heen run through it to determine its character and extent the values run from 9 6 to 20 and superintendent benner thinks the average for the whole body will not fall below 8 there still remains about feet of ground to be bel opened up before the west line is reached the ground already opened would keep the mill running for over ten years A tunnel has been continued on south and then to the east and the same body of ore has been found back of the 0 open p en cut it was thought when the end of the ore was reached in the open cut that a fault had thrown the vein down but it appeared by subsequent development that there was simply a break in the ore body and and that it continued on unbroken about feet south of where the break cut itin it in two A tunnel is bein being g run at a higher fiaher level on the east side of the jhc open cut to reach this ore and to provide ventilation the tunnel is in about 1300 feet and is being continued on into the sage hen claim of the twenty five men inen employed are engaged in development work the other half easily furnishing the daily output of and tons for the mill whether the mill will be enlarged or not is still a question manager bothwell proposes first to thoroughly open up the mine and demonstrate that it is is not a short lived property we think this can be thoroughly proved to any one who pays a visit to td the mine I 1 be beginning 9 inning two weeks aro ago the daiy daisy mine was turned over to the employees of the company who expect to pay themselves out of cyanide shipments by the first of march if they do not do this it is understood the com company p any will not be liable for the wages wage r due the men if thamine the mine can be made to pay by the men it is thought that it can be made to pay in the future |
