Show COLORADO leadville herald democrat the ore body opened in the coon valley continues to improve as development work proceeds it has now opened into a fine body of lead the order of the day silverton standard regular shipments are being made from the st paul and all reports from the property are very flattering A good sized force are at work taking out ore and it is contemplated that the st paul will become one of the heavy producers of the red mountain district the property is owned by the ross people leadville herald democrat in the down town district there is no cessation of mining activity the coronado and Pen rosi rost are taking out from to tons a day of carbonate and ore and a steady campaign of development and drill work is continued this latter is necessary as the geological formation is complicated eldora record william smith who with louis king and robert jefferson is leasing on the lower levels of the ward ross has opened up a fine streak of smelt ing ore from which they expect soon to be able to make a good shipment this I lease ease is being worked from the old tunnel level and so far the work has been principally confined to cleaning out the old workings and getting the property in shape for operation during the winter eldora record mr N H freeman an assayer of boulder has invented a new process for treating ores that will prove to be the finest thing ever invented it is a smelter that will treat the ore at the mine no fluxing flexing flu xing it will be run by gasoline and will treat from ten to fifty tons per day with very little cost As soon as mr freeman has one in working order it will be placed in eldora and undoubtedly one will be placed at eve every ry mine in eldora immediately silverton standard phil newman and J A triplett recently returned from denver where they received their first payment on their hermis group of claims situated on wood and hoghton mountains a short distance above animas forks H M corwin and associates the purchasers of this promising group arrived from denver this week they immediately went up to the property to make arrangements for carrying on the work during the winter months the first step in their preparations will be the erection of necessary buildings on the ground the chief work during the winter will be in the line of development A very active campaign will be opened up in the spring silverton standard work is progressing very satisfactorily at the atlas mine the work of developing the property being pushed as rapidly as possible under the circumstances the ore bin at the mill which is being enlarged for thirty additional stamps is about completed and it is expected that ten stamps will be added to the mill during the winter the other twenty stamps will be put in next summer the mill is turning out a good product at present and it is an assured fact that when sufficient development work has been done in the mine and the mill hi increased creased to forty stamps as is contemplated the atlas will be one of the I 1 best producers of the sneffels els district telluride examiner the new gold and silver chief mill in bear creek two miles from town was put in operation this week the frame work of the old plant was utilized util zed which of course greatly facilitated work remodeling and repairing the building and installing the new machinery have been going on for the last three months it is now one of the most complete small plants in the country it is strictly a concentrating mill the character of silver chief ore being such that any effort at amalgamation would be nugatory the plant has a capacity of crushing and concentrating from fifty to sixty tons of mineral in twenty four hours from five to eight tons of the ore will be reduced to one of concentrates |
