Show OPEN SHOP AT GOLDFIELD the goldfield mine aline owners association of goldfield nevada has declared for the open shop and work in the operation of the mines of the camp was resumed on the dinst united states troops are stationed in tile the district and it is believed that no serious trouble will prevail during th the e period when honest workmen supercede supersede super cede men with anarchistic tendencies who have kept goldfield in a turmoil for the past two years at eme eting of the mine owners Ass association ocla of goldfield held on the ath th the e following I 1 resolutions were adopted resolved that the mines of this dis Is brict reopen upon a wage scale to be agreed upon at this meeting resolved that the following rate of wages be adopted as the scale to be paid i in n the goldfield mining district by all operators members of this association associate asso ciati ion miners 4 from 5 machine men 4 from 5 chuck tenders from 5 muckers duckers muc kers from 5 car men from 5 top car men from 5 pump men 4 from 5 timber men from 5 carpenters 5 from 7 machinists 5 from 6 engineers licensed 5 from 6 electricians 5 from 7 blacksmiths from 6 tool sharpeners sharp eners 5 from 6 blacksmith helpers 4 from amalga gators from 5 vann ermen 4 from 5 laborers from 5 federation men barred resolved that no member of t this his association employ in or around his mine or around his mill any member of goldfield local union no of the western federation of miners or of any union connected or affiliated with said western federation of miners and that all men hereafter employee employed eu by any member of this association in or arc arcand und his mine or mill be required as a condition of his employment to sign a written contract which contains an agreement that the miner is not now and will not be during the time he is working a member of the goldfield miners union no of the western federation orf miners or of a union in goldfield or elsewhere that is directly or indirectly affiliated with or has any connect connection sidn with said western federation of miners resolved that the mines of the goldfield mining district resume opp operations rations at 7 a ni on thursday december 12 1907 with men who agree to the foregoing conditions biti ons and that all old employed emp loyes of the members of this association be given preference at all mines providing such employed emp loyes present their applications either at the office of this association or of the mines formerly employing them before 7 a m of thursday december 12 1907 and that the offices of this association and said mines be open for the purpose of receiving said applications from 9 a in to 6 p in of each day until said time notice to business men resolved that it is the sense of this association that the cost of living in the goldfield mining district be reduced at least 20 per cent from what it now is and unless this be done with a reasonable time this association will construct an and d operate a general merchandise store or tores stores and boarding houses that will guarantee to the men employed in and around the mines and mills a reduction to this or greater grea ter amount during the past year there has been more than usual inhere interest st in mining opera |
