Show THE LANE SLOW SPEED MILL los angeles mining review the index miner says that mr C C lane of los angeles california was registered at the penobscot hotel a few days ago he had just returned from slate creek whatcom county where he had been installing one of his slow speed rolling mills mr lane is the patentee and has already installed forty one of his mills principally in california and arizona although several are in operation in old mexico he sold the mill to the bonita gold mining company and agreed to install it and see it in running order at a cost of about including freight from san diego cal where they are manufactured the bonita mine has been operating a ten stamp mill and the best that they could do was to crush thirty tons per day now with the addition of the lane mill they can handle sixty tons the operation of the bonita mill will be watched with interest by mining men for it is the first time that the two systems have been tried under the same conditions five of the stamps are working separately crushing fine with a low discharge and the other five stamps are crushing coarse and finish with the lane mill it is already observed that the concentrates by the new process are much finer than those from the stamps alone it would cost to install stamps to do the same work the difference in the cost being largely in favor of the mill mr lane went down to everett to make arrangements with the sumner iron works to make the mills for the alaska and washington trade the bonita people intend to increase the daily output to tons per day this can be done by installing three more mills and a blake crusher doing away with any more stamps mr J A stewart the superintendent of the bonita is acif an old stamp mill man but he writes in high praise of the work the lane mill is doing |
