Show sensational BLACK BLACKHORSE HORSE ORE the camp of black horse in eastern white pine county nevada is now in the public eye to a greater extent than ever before and for the reasons that several very sensational discoveries have been made in this rich and promising gold section of late for the past few months the san pedro mine of black horse has been the center of attraction and while this property is still strictly in the swim and is improving wih each days development the mabel mine a near neighbor of the san pedro has come to the front with disclosures that have had a dazzling effect upon the mining public this group of claims is owned by F 0 mcfall fred schrott bart smithson 0 C thurber and arthur rockhill who are highly elated over their good fortune two of the owners in the mabel have been in salt lake of late and have edve been making exhibitions of ore from the new find that have had the effect of giving our people a greater touch of nevada fever than ever before experienced perien ced by them the news of ely in its issue of august contains the following regarding the mabel find H C F brown who has large mining interests in blackhorse returned wednesday from a brief visit of inspection of his hold ings in that camp and is very enthusiastic over the outlook for the new eldorado of eastern nevada not only are the earlier discoveries making good said mr brown when seen by a news representative last evening but sensationally rich strikes are being made continually on new ground as development work progresses according to mr brown the latest strike to attract attention was that made last week on the mabel group of claims owned by F 0 mcfall and fred schrott the lucky dutchman A four foot ledge one sample from which assayed over to the ton in gold and the general average running well up into the thousands was uncovered scarcely a piece of the ore from this ledge can be found which does not show coarse colors of free gold were every one who desired to do so permitted to carry away specimens of the ore the loss to the owners of the mine would amount to several thousands of dollars in a very short space of time and to guard against such loss the owners of the property have stationed armed guards at the opening in the ledge to prevent any one comin coming g close enough to carry away any of the ore on the dump the new strike is less than a thousand feet east of the san pedro group and but a short distance from the blackhorse group the original discovery of the district the strike of the mabel vein is north and south and in this respect differs from the other veins of the district which run northeast and southwest the character of ore however is the same as that found in the blackhorse and san pedro claims A furore of excitement has been caused in the camp by the new discovery and fabulous prices are being offered for claims lying contiguous to the mabel but the owners are loth to tart with their claims appreciating the fact that the next days development develops ent work may prove them to be as rich in the yellow metal as those already opened up mr brown will leave tomorrow for the blackhorse district to prosecute with vigor the development of his properties there and a number of ely mining men will visit the camp during the coming week for the pur pose of securing a foothold in the new famous district from another source editor news just a few words in regard to the new strike on the mabel group and I 1 enclose the certificate of assay as proof the ledge on the mabel is feet in width and this assay was taken from ore within two feet of the surface white pixie pine county can now just claim the richest and greatest gold mine ever discovered in nevada the mabel mines are owned by the mabel gold mining company mr fred schrott better known as the lucky dutchman is one of the principal owners in the company he also deserves great credit for promoting the mabel mines plenty of other mining property in this dis dig brict is getting better as the development work goes on H J WALLER blackhorse nov nev aug 10 1906 the assay referred to shows ounces of gold to the ton about |
