Show DREDGING ON THE SNAKE herald mountain home idaho general weaver president and general manager of the utility power company together with mr B A dare vice president and engineer and superintendent W N scofield came up monday from snake river having completed the great power and dredging plant when the steam was turned into the engine that was to run the large dynamo the mammoth machinery moved off in perfect order each and every part working to perfection fec tion this seems little short of marvelous considering the fact that the last piece of machinery did not arrive until november 29 and about one month of the time since then the weather has been so severe they could no do work yet barring all this the big dredge boat was built the power plant installed and all machinery adjusted and put into inta place and everything gotten in fine running order in less than three months time this plant is by far the largest and most perfect of its kind ever erected in this part of the country the electric power generated and used is horsepower and operates two mammoth dredges with a capacity of 1500 yards of gravel per day the dredges are of the new system invented and built by general J L weaver and save the very finest of flour gold eight of these large dredges have been ordered and will be built and erected on snake river at once this means that a million pounds of freight from this source alone will arive acrive at mountain home this season general weaver shipped a million pounds of freight to this station last year the freight bills alone amounting to over the general and mr dare left monday night for new york where they will order the machinery for the big electric power plant to be placed at crane falls this will be one of the largest power plants to be found anywhere on snake river and will generate several thousand horsepower and T will furnish power for pumping water for ir fr running dredges electric lights and power of all description A large force forc e of men and teams will soon be at work at crane falls excavating and building the canal which will be about feet in length fifty feet wide and ten feet in depth general weaver is already negotiating for the rails ties and equipment for the idaho central railroad and work on the road to bruneau will begin at an early date this will be a great advantage to mountain home and vicinity as well as to bruneau valley it will bring untold capital here give many men employment and furnish electric power for any and all kinds of business we take our hat off to general john L weaver for his great energy and staying staging qualities in connection with this enterprise he has carried this great proposition over the breakers of disappointments and all obstacles and has landed safely in the harbor of success it was very gratifying to all concerned to see how well and how qu quickly akly th this S mammoth dredge plant was installed and how perfectly and bucce successfully s scully it does the work general weaver has surely solved the problem of mining and saving the fine gold of snake river as the new dredge demonstrated that it saved absolutely every particle of gold men are now erecting buildings to cover this big plant of such dimensions as feet feet and feet weaverville Wea verville has been a very busy place during the past three months and now that the dredge plant has proven a grand success there is no limit to the possibilities and business in store for that section the herald repeats watch mountain home grow |
