Show i MINING operations IN ARIZONA I 1 I 1 immense production of copper bu bullion alion at the copper queen special correspondence prescott arizona march 24 the production of bullion copper at the reduction L plant of the copper queen at bisbee for the month of february broke the record of production for the southwest for any one month since copper has been mined last month the production was a record breaker pounds being produced this month much more copper has been turned out and under harder conditions notwithstanding the bad weather the plant plane was run like clockwork and the streams of copper poured out of the furnaces as never before in the history of the plant the 1 present rate of production will be kept up and as the new furnaces go into commission it will be increased until it is nearly double what it is now contracts representing upwards upward of have been let by the copper queen company for the development of the douglas smelter four mammoth engines were ordered to run the new blowers each of which will have a capacity of feet of air a minute A contract was also let for an air compressor with a capacity of cubic feet A blower was ordered or a converter to be somewhat larger than the C A converter and to have a capacity of cubic feet of air a minute the production of copper by the C can an anea copper company for the month of february was slightly in excess of pounds this is an average of about ninety tons per day and is a very good showing I 1 considering the many disadvantages under which the property has been operated during the month owing to the continuous heavy rainfall so much rain has fallen that the water has seeped through the ground to the workings greatly hampering the mining the ore in the chutes is so soggy it will not run and has to be loaded into the ears cars by hydraulic pressure slides have occurred on the railroad and for several days puertocito Puerto cito could not be reached delaying the delivery of lime wood and clay for the converter linings and greatly inconveniencing operations at the smelter with dry weather and more favorable conditions this production should be steadily increased the stockholders in the bonanza circle are again jubilant for ore has been struck for the first time in the junction shaft the ore was encountered at a depth of feet and already fills half the bottom of the shaft the ore came in at the north end of the shaft and dips to the south the ore is composed of oxides carrying about 15 per cent and is very rich from diamond drill holes put down some time ago it is known that at a depth of thirty feet below the bottom of the shaft the entire bottom of the shaft the entire bottom will be in ore one of the very good features of this shaft is that there is very little water and that under present conditions the shaft shaf C is going down at the ra rate ite of three to four f feet beet each day the junction shaft is one of the largest in the warren district and shows that the body of copper is certainly certain ly big As late as september last junction could have been bought for 16 there was a great deal of the stock changed hands at that thai figure this is a degree stimulated the sale and from that day it has gradually a ily advanced it is selling to today day at the recent strike should cause a further furher substantial advance in the price at which whish th this is stock is offered I 1 I 1 the bingham central mining company the incorporation of which was mentioned in the last issue of the mining review and of which hon samuel newhouse is president and D C jackling vice president and general manager has already begun active work in the extensive and intelligent development of its valuable bingham property the holdings 0 of f the company embrace some of the richest ground in this grand old camp and is surrounded bounded by some of the big mines for which bingham is so justly noted the company is an exceptionably strong one and in its personnel contains c the names of some of our best and most prominent citizens I 1 |
