consulting metallurgist in which capacity he will also serve the united states company park record manager john J daly of the daly judge was in camp again this week inspecting the mine though he has nothing new to report he is perfectly satisfied with the condition and looks of things generally and will in the near future have news of much interest to Par kites for publication the exploratory work at the mine continues the ore bodies increasing in size and value as progress is made vernal express there is some little excitement cit ement on green river over the discovery of a very rich bar the bar is located near the daniels ranch about five miles above the mouth of brush creek four men have been working there several weeks and have panned out over 75 in gold they are now putting in sluice boxes and will pump water from the river for sluicing by horse power the dirt pays from 35 cents to 3 a yard castle dale progress L C moore of provo has located a half dozen mining claims in the vicinity of mexican bend on the san rafael and some about two miles west of the buckhorn flat reservoir assays essays show the ore to contain copper silver and gold other recent locations are those by harvey hardy jr of salt lake city who has staked off five claims in sulphur canyon two miles west of the mouth of glover canyon one mile south of price river richfield reaper reaper secretary M F murray went up to the franklin companas comp anys properties sunday to examine recent work mr murray states that dr franklin is expected soon from his eastern trip and th that at he will be in a position to resume the extensive operations which were suspended last summer it is the belief of those familiar with the property that by the end of six months of systematic development the character and extent of the holdings will be pretty well established richfield sun ben ashby of marys vale spent sunday in richfield mr ashby told a sun reporter that his properties on gold hill twelve miles southwest of marys vale are looking very encouraging this spring he and three others are sinking in a tunnel that is now in to a depth of more than feet and pay ore will no doubt reward their efforts ere long mr ashby had with him some very valuable specimens of silver bearing ore some of them being as high as 80 per cent pure i richfield sun G F dalton of M marys arys vale was a sun caller bues tues tuesday day afternoon mr dalton is the main push in the kalbaugh iron properties near belknap and he is feeling much encouraged over the outlook of these prominent claims he is shipping ore daily to salt lake city where it is used for fluxing flexing in the smelters shelters sm elters and will greatly increase the output in the near future everybody knows dalton he is a hustler he is one of Marys vales pioneer mining men and is every inch a miner eureka reporter As predicted in our last issue tho the force at the centennial eureka mine has now passed the mark and is still growing the pay roll of this mine for the month of february amounted to about being considerable smaller than for the previous month on account ot of february being a short month it is estimated that the pay roll fo for i r the present month will call for about possibly more this week the output from the cen tennial eureka mine amounted to 91 carloads or about tons and this heavy tonnage will be gradually increased richfield reaper mr and mrs T J jukes of monroe were in richfield monday mr julies jukes had just returned from kanish where he had been to get the signature ot of mrs A S howlett hewlett to the necessary papers and monday he and mrs A J moore of richfield completed the transaction which passes the june bug group of claims on gold mountain to an english company of capitalists these capitalists were represented by lewis thomas the company has ample means to fully develop and operate the property and no doubt will soon begin operation of an extensive character on and in the ground richfield reaper J H nelson superintendent of operations at the signal peak says that this company occupies a position of much confidence among mining men the demand for stock continues as strong as j ever and the company has plenty of means to prosecute work to the objective point poin j the tunnel is now in over feet and the indications are that the hole will not have to go over fet more to come in contact j with the vein the formation so far indicates a western dip and if this j holds out the vein will be struck ek a little j t nearer it is expected to determine something by next fall eureka reporter C W jones returned to salt lake last saturday and before leaving informed the reporter that his proposition to build a mill in west tintic gintic would be successful mr jones says that he has secured an option on some good ground in that district and that in the event the mill is erected it will not be run entirely on ore from the property of the bonanza mining company but that custom ore will be handled the bonanza company will have a meeting during the latter part of the month to consider the matter and mr jones states that there is every assurance that the plant wil the ibe put up immediately thereafter eureka reporter A corps of rio grande western surveyors have been at work this week surveying for the spur which will be built to the eagle blue bell mine this line has had this improvement in mind for some time the original plan was to run the track around near the foot of the mountain from the summit but the railroad company could not make suitable arrangements with the owners of the ground through which the spur would have had to pass and consequently the new road will leave the other line near the water tank and run southwest to the eagle and blue bell dump the mining company will also put up a large ore house which will make it very easy matter to handle the heavy tonnage which is now being sent out bingham bulletin the fortuna company which a few days ago paid to hill mullett davis and snyder the balance of the due on account of the purchase of the fortune group is now working 42 men under the direction of superintendent james start fifteen tons of lead and copper ores are sent down the tram to the cars daily and bodies of lead ore of considerable magnitude have been opened up in the mine work is confined chiefly to the three tunnels and in the freedom tunnel connection has just been made with the portland incline which gives an abundance of good air the mayflower tunnel which thirty years ago was producing ore of fabulous richness has been cleaned out and will be further explored and developed A fine two story boarding house has just been completed at the mine richfield sun duke becki and his uncle W J heck becki both of this city have been spending the past six weeks locating a number of claims south and east of the iron properties in sevier canyon duke was in town tuesday and he told a sun reporter that the flat hills in which he and his are interested give promise ot of great things the surface rock fock everywhere carries free gold they have sunk to a depth of about fifty feet on one of their claims following a twenty inch vein of ore that carries values in gold and silver assaying all the way from 1087 to per ton the becki are trying to indu pa s with capital to interest Y in this new district and they are sang iune that they are not wasting their tufted in don g some development work richfield reaper superintendent an thony of the derjue surprise mining company informs the reaper that just as soon as the snow vanishes sufficiently to make the property accessible for supplies the development of the property will be resumed when work was su last fall the property was making a splendid showing and it is believed that not a great deal more work will have to be done to establish the values beyond any doubt and of sufficient extent to warrant extensive improvements on the property there is no question of ore it has been uncovered in several places on the ground it is only a question of size of the veins the company has means on hand to conduct quite a campaign this spring without taxing the stockholders for another assessment and it is proposed to use this money judiciously and economically in opening up this most flattering proposition price advocate james A harrison A E gibson and joseph price of sunnyside Sunny side have taken abond a bond and lease on the copper queen mine which is located in mohave county arizona and is owned by emery county and salt lake city people the property consists of five five claims all of which show well in copper and silver about 20 per cent of the former and five or six ounces to the ton of the latter on one there is a shaft sunk to the depth of a hundred feet with twenty five feet of drifting and exposing a large body of copper ore from which shipments at the rate of four or five cars a month will begin as soon as mr gibson gets back to the property some time the coming week the ore is freighted to lund station on the san pedro route mr gibson has become superintendent of the property since quitting the utah fuel company at sunny side and will give his entire time to working the same |
