Show 2 i Specia 1 Corres 0 correspondence corresponded c e j V 1 I 1 I 1 kimsing activity in idabo 5 th mining n review I 1 R owl inifi wl mimi lelal 1 I owl boise ida june 23 mining activity continues to increase and this year will record a larger mineral minera 1 output and greater development and improvements than any previous season among the camps that have been partially abandoned for several years atlanta has taken on new life and prospects for a prosperous year are excellent work has been prosecuted on the petit and monarch mines all winter and a number of other properties are preparing to commence operations it is said there is not an idle man in the camp at the present time the queens river consolidated mining company a corporation organized by F J conroy a prominent boise mining man has purchased a group of four claims about eight miles from atlanta in elmore county the group consists of four quartz and two placer mines and carries with it a water right to lo 50 cubic inches of water per second considerable development work has already been done on the property and a fine f ine body of ore has been opened up assays essays on the ore run from to 2500 per ton with an average of about 34 per ton all the ore is free milling and concentrating it is said that the company will put in a mill this season as there is sufficient ore in sight to justify such a step and more can be taken out rapidly the rapid river district in the northern part of washington county is being prospected vigorously and a large amount of development work has met with sufficient clent success to bring that section into considerable prominence the rankin general milling company has had a force of men employed on its property during the greater part of the winter there being about forty men at work at the present time this company has constructed a treatment plant designed for a new ore reduction process which it is claimed will greatly cheapen the reduction of gold and silver ores the daily capacity of the p plant lant is tons an assay office and office quarters are also completed and a big boarding house is in course of construction three shifts are working in the mine and ore is being scoped out preparatory to keeping the mill supplied for a steady run when it is started great interest is manifested here in a big dredge recently purchased by general weaver and now being transported to grand view on the snake river where he h hopes 0 pes to have it installed and ready for operation by august it has long been an established fact that the bed of the snake river is rich in the yellow metal and many attempts have been made to save the gold known to exist in large quantities in various localities generally with but indifferent success mr weaver and his associates socia tes are sanguine of the success of their undertaking and it is also claimed by others who are familiar with the operations of the dredge that there is little doubt but that it will save the flour gold with which the gravel beds and sand bars of the snake abound several important sales have been made during the past few weeks among them being the bull dog group in sheep mountain custer county for trvin irvin E rockwell manager of the minnie moore mine in blaine biarne county has purchased a two fifths interest in the idaho democrat for one third of the amount being cash the remaining three fifths interest is owned by W H watt a halley hailey banker it is the intention of watt and rockwell to begin systematic development at once rumor persistently asserts here that the checkmate mine at pearl has been purchased by senator W A dark clark the montana copper king but the interested parties on both sides deny that such a deal has been made FRED FLOED |
