Show ON MILLER MOUNTAIN statesman boise idaho M L oglesby superintendent of the nampa mining companas comp anys property at miller mountain m oun tain is in the city he is on his way to salt lake for treatment for an eye that was injured some days ago by a screwdriver screw dri ver the cornea was cut the wound being very painful and rather serious but mr oglesby hopes it will not impair the vision the road to miller mountain is open and in very fine condition mr oglesby came through in a cutter making fast time the remainder of the freight for the company is be being ing forwarded from idaho city and will all be delivered in a short time there was much trouble earlier in the season as freighters were indisposed to undertake the work but the roads have been good the heavy machinery for the plant is all on the ground and the buildings are nearly completed everything is under cover and the work will be finished up very soon mr oglesby expects to have the mill in running order in 30 days it will be set up complete long before that but it will require some time to get everything adjusted for permanent work the electric plant is in operation and the works are lighted entirely en firely by electricity the plant is run by the water power developed from the mine no work has been done on th the e mine since last fall as the ore opened up is sufficient to keep the mill running a long time all the men have been kept busy on the outside work but so soon as this shall have been completed mining operations will be resumed it is expected the mill will handle about 20 tons ton s of ore daily the iii experimental perlie naj work showed that 83 per centon cent of the value could be saved on the plates an and d it was determined ter mined to pile up the concentrates until the best method of treating them could be determined the vein matter is very soft and mining operations can be conducted with small ex pence part of the gangue of the ore is quartz and part altered granite the pay is confined to two streaks ranging about four feet wide each there being a streak of andesite between them some 14 inches thick sometimes the ore is all on of the andesite but generally there is pay on both sides in places the streaks are much wider than four feet the walls are not well defined at one point a crosscut 30 feet long was made without disclosing walls it was in altered grante all the way and showed some values as far as the work was driven |
