Show STRONG IN THE FAITH the strong and abiding faith maintained by a few hundred mining men in the future possibilities of the deep creek country in the western portion of utah is something wonderful to contemplate in fact such persistence through thick and thin through good and bad report is remarkable in the extreme patience on the part of the deep creek mining man the claim holder in this inaccessible portion of our fair state is more than a virtue for in the end it will be the salvation of this richly mineralized section which it is predicted will eventually develop into the greatest wealth producing section of this great intermountain country for twenty years at least we have heard of the deep creek country of its marvelous deposits of the precious metals and we have been told time and again that with adequate railroad facilities the various camps and districts of this vast territory could outrival out rival our greatest camps in the way of ore production time after time railroads have been projected into this region to fail as often in realization and yet the mine owner the claim holder in its various camps have never given up hope and year after year they have continued development have obtained government title to valuable ground being confident with an exhibition of faith and hope that is almost sublime that in time the iron horse traveling on bands of steel will enable them to enter the markets of the east and west with the products of their mines and in such quantity such quality as to surprise the mining world we are told that the mine owners of deep creek and the railroads have locked horns this is in a measure true as the railroads want tonnage in sight before building while the mine owners most of them in limited circumstances cannot afford to develop their properties and pile large quantities of ore on the dump awaiting an opportunity to market the same and realize upon money and labor expended so there they are and yet the deep is not in the least discouraged cou raged as is evidenced by the large and enthusiastic meeting held by them last week during which they made arrangements to promulgate literature setting forth the merit and value the resources and prospects of the country and also took the necessary steps for the organization of a deep creek association As was said at the meeting by professor marcus E jones bingham if located in the deep creek country would not be able to ship a pound of ore under conditions now existing there while the richest mines of our leading camps if located there could hardly market their ores with any profit left this is undoubtedly true and there is no doubt but that in the future how near no one can tell the mines of deep creek with transportation facilities and advantages will take rank as such mammoth producers that the many claims made by the property owners of this region will be more than verified notwithstanding the skepticism disclosed by railroads smelters shelters sm elters and prejudiced mining men being strong in the faith the deep creek operators will some day enjoy the full realizations of their most sanguine expectations 0 |
