Show CAMP BIRD MINE AT BAYHORSE TAKEN OVER BY JARBIDGE MEN one of the most mining deals made in the last year was consummated recently between the dark clark mining and leasing company of contact nevada and roy burton of clayton idaho involving the camp bird group of mining claims says the mackay miner of the ad the dark clark company now is arranging to move in a large plant of machiner machinery y and equipment from jarbidge harbidge Jar bidge nevada which is to be installed at the mines as soon as possible the camp bird group consists of twelve claims and is situated in the bayhorse badhorse Bay horse mining district near clayton and about fifty four miles west of mackay and is connected with the railroad at mackay by highway the claims are on a good truck road from the camp to the railroad the claims claim have shave a surface showing of iron and crushed quartz disseminated lead and silver vein with one wall be ing quartzite and the other lime and shale the surface width of the vein being fifty feet and two miles in length on surface the vein of which 1800 feet is on th the e camp bird group was mined and nd used for flux at the old clayton lead smelter and many thousand tons of ore from surface workings while the lead smelter was in operation at clayton the group adjoins the ella mine on the E south which has a production record of over one million dollars and also joins the property he held id by henry ford and connects with his red bird group on the west there is also a claim with a stream of water of approximately 1000 inches crossing it and flowing past the lower tunnel at a distance of about fifty feet from the postal of r early development was carried on for the purpose 0 furnishing flux for the old lead smelter at clayton and only on surface work was done on the vein two tunnels were we driven at that time to crosscut cross cut the vein one ba being in about feet and another lower tunnel being in about feet tee which would cut the vein at and feet depth respectively this work was suspended upon the closing 0 of f the amel sins i el inas IN as ter at clayton about 1910 recently the upper til tunnel driven 25 feet farther which cut the vein at feet depth chiep and shows high grade stringers of lead silver orey ore assaying assa the from 50 to 65 per cent lead and to oz silver at stringers vary from a few inches to 18 inches in in width aiu times beina jjck a at the present time the rioh rich stringers of ore are 1 mined and sacked and the vein gangue is being throw 0 acet the dump this second class ore assays essays about 13 15 per P lead and 50 oz silver it will be used as mill feed later coll it is proposed by the clark mining and leasing upper pany to continue cross cutting the vein by driving 1 itt tunnel to the hanging banging wall and also to continue lowe thil nel ne 1 into vein and cross cutting vein in same manner v feet will be accomplished by driving lower tunnel to farther |
