Show COAL MINING INDUSTRY THRIVING IN THE ROCK SPRINGS DISTRICT that the coal industry of rock springs that precious enterprise which is responsible for the life growth prosperity and brilliant future outlook of the city is enjoying brisk business and healthy conditions is evinced by reports and figures gleaned from a survey made by rock springs rocket representatives about the middle of the month the summers su miners commercial coal output from the district shows a marked increase over that of the summer of 1926 commercial operators state that they have an abundance of orders and it is likely that camps which have been closed for many months will be revived during the month of june the increase in commercial coal tonnage was 16 per cent over that of june 1926 in july the increase was 30 per cent and in august the figures on coal shipped show a gain of 20 per cent over the same month of the previous year when asked concerning the rumon kumoi that the gunn quealy mine at gunn would be reopened superintendent glen knox stated that while it had not been definitely decided to resume operations at that mine it is being put into such condition that it might be reopened if demand warrants this mine has been closed for the past three years but a small crew is now at work putting buildings and equipment in readiness to begin extracting the coal should the order come to do so it has also been rumored that the wyoming coal company mine at lion which was closed in the spring of 1926 would reopen but david daniels superintendent in of the company stated that there was no official authorization for this report |
