Show COLORADOS ORES discoveries in colorado announced by prof R D george state geologists says the miner of boulder colorado will result virtually in tripling the worlds supply of ore which contains the three precious elements radium uranium and vanadium lack of transportation is all that hinders in making these great deposits available to the world declared professor george uranium and radium we know to be present in quantities far beyond what previously was supposed the same is true to some extent of vanadium although we are not so positive as to its quantity the deposits cover broadly square miles from the grand river to the southern part of the state the ores are not present in all that territory but there are sections square miles in extent where they are found everywhere in addition to the potash exists in much of this country with transportation which the proposed tri tunnel project would afford not only would the ores be reached over a much wider ground than at present but lower gra grade de ores that now are thrown away at the mines could be utilized profitably another assertion by professor george was that the molybdenum deposits in colorado are shown by the survey to be larger than in any other state molybdenum is used extensively in steel hardening so the announcement no promises great things for the future of the steel industry in america |
