Show COPPER DEPOSITS OF THE SEVEN DEVILS y the splendid and valuable work being ac I 1 complis hed by the new bureau of mines and geology of the state of idaho is exemplified i in the f first official bulletin issued by the bu v j reau and just off the press this bulletin covering more than pages and embel dished with numerous maps and halftone half tone tane il lust rations deals with the copper deposits of the seven devils and adjacent districts including heath hornet creek goodo and v deer creek the bulletin contains a world 1 of information and is edited by prof D C livingston of the university of idaho and dr F B laney geologist of the united states geological survey both of whom directed and personally handled the field work most of which was done during the summer sum mer of 1919 the compilation of the volume devolved upon prof francis A thompson director of the state bureau of mines at moscow and when it is considered that the volume was printed in one of the state printing establishments lish ments where facilities probably were not what they ought to have been the mechanical appearance of the book Is excellent par ticul arly in the map printing and halftone half tone displays the photographs reproduced in the work were taken by capt R W berry of the geological survey where necessary the regions embraced in these photographs are accompanied compa nied by geological drawings depicting the character of the formations covered no one can examine this bulletin without marveling at the vast volume of detail work that was accomplished in a limited period of time and it speaks volumes for the methods of efficiency and speed that seem to be characterizing the efforts of the official household of the states new bureau of mines and geology practically all of the mines of what is popularly known as the seven n devils region bordering the line between idaho and washington are described and in many instances maps of mine workings are given other and adjacent districts are given as much attention as possible and taken in its entirety the bulletin can not fall fail to prove of great value to the states mineral industry that the demand for this work will be great goes without saying |
