Show LATE ROCHESTER NEWS special correspondence rochester nevada may 23 dr N al wade has purchased the aldrich interests in the rock lease and will give that property his undivided attention from now on john H eggers E 11 will assume the of the nenzel hill mines june 1 the codd company has struck the main vein in the west crosscut on the foot level the packard has opened up a big vein of milling ore and the company announces the erection of a hundred ton mill at once to treat its ores the big four company has a fine body of ore opened up on the foot level which shows specimen gold all through it the semiannual semi annual election of the rochester mining and stock exchange will be held on june 1 dr N al wade will sever his connection as superintendent of the nenzel hill mines AT ines june 1 there is a little excitement over reported new placer strikes in north amer american canyon and several rochester people have staked ground in the canyon twenty years ago several thousand people were in this gulch and millions of dollars in dust were shipped out the ledges which produced this wonderful placer have yet remained undiscovered north american canyon is four miles northeast of rochester the camelle rock leasing company on the nenzel crown point mines is making a splendid showing no property on nenzel hill looks better at this time the face of their drift is in solid ore and this week a was started sixty feet south of the bottom of the shaft shaf t and in the first ten feet opened up five feet of fine shipping ore this property is managed by camelle rock a mining operator well known from south africa to alaska and has a most promising future the aj mining company a leasing company composed of seattle and alaska mining men who are operating on the crown point no 1 lode of the rochester mines company have worth of ore opened up and on the dump james mcdonald has charge of all the companas comp anys work and is developing the mine thoroughly jim me ale is known from mexico to alaska as one of the best mine superintendents that can be had rochester nevada while but a year and a half old has made wonderful strides and while it is in the desert it has telephone electric lights and most of the advantages of a modern town and above all has actual opportunities to men of brains energy and push all around the district are promising prospects many good leases are waiting for the right man to come along and take them in no camp in the country offers such chances with the installation ofa of a custom mill the leasers leaders of rochester will make such a showing that leases will be in great demand A A codd is taking active steps to build in his railroad at the earliest possible date this railroad the silver belt railroad was constructed from nenzel station on the S P R R to the mouth of limerick canyon in 1913 and thousands of tons of ore was hauled from the nenzel hill mines to that point during the year this terminal is six miles south of nenzel station and from this point active work has begun to the end of having the road built into rochester by july 4 1914 at nenzel the miller hotel has been purchased and will be used as company offices A permanent camp has been established at the mouth of rochester canyon and about a mile and a half of grading has already been done A station will be established about two miles down the canyon from west rochester which will be called packard at this point all ores from the packard mines and the surrounding district will be shipped for the present later a branch line will be constructed direct to the packard ackard the central passenger st station a tion is s located on the flat between upper and lower ito roche bes ter the road will then run around on tt north side of rochester canyon to apola a point just below the causten dump where the th I 1 ores from the aj codd big 4 rock and aiu the B boughton leases will be loaded diorec direct from the chutes the line will then run southerly along the dumps of the weaver tunnel to the weaver divide which point will be the present terminus the officials of the road promise to make such rates ana treatment arrangements that 12 ores can call be mixed at a profit considering that to break even at the present time the leaser on nenzel hill mines must have ore which will average at least 22 per ton the build ing of the silver belt into rochester will be a godsend god send to this district the minnehaha mine is showing some fine ore shipping grade in the west crosscut from the bottom of shaft no 1 |
