Show MINING AT MANHATTAN special correspondence manhattan nev dec 5 1913 in making up the annual production from the various properties of the district it is found that the white caps stands far in the lead for the year in high average of ores treated for the first ten months of 1913 the number of tons treated totals with a gross value of in gold making an average per ton of 2364 besides this amount the lease during the last sixty days of its life placed close to tons of ore on the mill dump of an approximate value of 15 per ton a total of over that will be treated when the correct method for extracting the values from the base ores has been determined at the present time the vertical shaft is being continued with all expedition from the level to the surface this latest work being carried on by the company the manhattan consolidated adjoining the white caps to the west and containing large ore bodies developed for over feet in depth will undoubtedly have a bright future as soon as the proper method for extraction has been solved the ore carries the same refractory elements that are found in the white caps ores the main difference between the two ores being in the proportions of base elements and also the fact that the consolidated ores are slightly lower in average gold content due to the fact that at a recent meeting of consolidated soli dated stockholders it was decided to reincorporate in nevada and to make the new company an assessable organization to provide working capital a vigorous campaign of development is assured the finlayson lease on the litigation hill merger with a working shaft of an incline depth of over feet is making a much better showing of late apparently the ore shoot from which so much good ore has been extracted from the upper levels has been developed from the bottom of the shaft to the west and although badly broken up still ore that averages 12 per ton is being mined the dump now contains about ninety tons of this ore awaiting amill a mill run the initial millrun milbrun in the manhattan milling and ore company ten stamp mill under the management of the operators of the big pine and wittenberg is now under way it is intended to treat ores from the big pine manhattan dexter mayflower flower and gold crater properties in this mill the various properties being operated by and wittenberg under the brady management the mill during 1913 has treated tons of ore of a gross value of the T mining operations from the reilly fraction have ceased for the winter it being considered inadvisable by the management to try to keep the war eagle mill running on the glory hole ore as the haul ing from the mine to the mill has been found to be entirely too dependent upon weather conditions operations are now I 1 under way on the mustang property the first test milling having already started 1 it is understood that the mustang will be operated in the same manner that has proven so successful on the reilly frac tion by open cut one great advantage found in the mustang operations is that the ore can be crammed direct into the mill obviating the haul by team from mi mine ne e to mill one of the chief costs in the total expenses j the prospecting of the valley view by anderson and larsen is showing more and more ore with each days work the lin im 1 mense east and west lime reef which out crops near the top of the hill upon which the claim is located undoubtedly has a strong bearing in the ot 0 the hill white spar and talc streaks from a knife blade to three or four inches thick are found cutting the formation and in their immediate vicinity the lime is enriched zo so that for several feet ore of a mill grade is found the streaks in many in ini i stances make ore of great richness pan 1 aings indicating a value to the ton of ore of several hundred dollars |
