Show THE DAVENPORT independent gus treasurer and manager of the davenport independent mining company of davenport iowa and al weiss secretary of the company were in salt lake the first of the month on their way to nevada after having attended the annual meeting of the company in which there are only thirteen or fourteen stockholders the property of the company is located at camp douglas seven miles west of mina nevada the group embraces seven claims and is being extensively and systematically developed the development consisting of 2000 feet of tunnel work and a foot shaft the vein is large and well defined and ranges from a foot to three feet in width the ore is free milling and carries values of from 12 to 20 in gold to the ton on the dump is stored tons of ore while from 3 to tons have been blocked out in the mine workings ready for extraction and reduction much of the ore goes higher than the alie figures given but rather than to make the average appear too high the management very consistently places it at 20 some of the ore on the dump and exposed in the m mine ine workings may be treated in the near future by the 5 stamp mill that is now in course of construction in the camp but the company will not consider the installation of a mill of its own until extensive operation has blocked out ore in sufficient quantity to guarantee production for a long time to come when this is accomplished complis hed a fine free milling plant will be constructed which will be easy of accomplishment ment as the company has on oil hand for development and equipment purposes douglas is an old camp one of the veterans of nevada and its past production record is placed near the million dollar mark however no depth had been attained and the davenport independent now has the deepest showings ever made in the district as it now has feet of backs from the tunnel level up |
