Show BETTER ROADS WANTED B P miller of bluff utah president of the aztec oil company operating in san juan utah oil field has addressed a letter to the salt lake commercial club as follows the remoteness of this country from all railroads is its most striking feature in this day of rapid transportation it seems odd to spend four days of slow staging to reach ones destination the roads could be put into condition for automobile service without the expenditure of a great amount of money and the trip ace accomplished 0 easily within two days the trip is well worth while if only to se this wonderful country it is an absolute crime to see how bow money has been wasted by inefficient management in some cases enough money was spent to drill a deep well and the company did hot even reach the first sand many companies reached the first sand and in m some cases the second sand but the wells weer left in such condition that it will be impossible to make anything of the well or to carry it to a lower level I 1 think however that from now on we shall see a great improvement in this particular the pioneer stage of development is disappearing and real drifting is beginning in earnest I 1 know of at least six holes already started or er about to be started that will be drilled to at least the third sand or lower the south side company drilled into the goodrich sand the other day and I 1 was there when it was baled they are twenty feet in the sand and the oil must stand at least feet in the hole it is a great sight 1 0 o see that fine oil come to the surface the jackson well has more than feet of oil in the casing that comes within feet of the surface I 1 dropped a weight down at the end of a line and upon dancing it up and down a couple of times it so started the gas in the oil that for several minutes the well gave out the sound of a tea kettle steaming on the stove the prospects here are surely marvelous and it is hard to be patient to see the balance of the field well developed and what the deep holes will develop |
